Our Commitment

Makara’s Commitment to Ethical Crewing and Seafarer Rights

Makara Maritime is dedicated to valuing seafarers and upholding the seafarers’ rights. All our crewing processes strictly comply with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006), ensuring that our practices meet the highest standards.

As a crewing management company acting on behalf of vessel owners, Makara Maritime partners with a network of both internal and external manning agents to source qualified seafarers.

We are proud to be fully compliant with the Recruitment and Placement Service License (RPSL) regulations, as mandated by the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) and strictly prohibit the acceptance or solicitation of any payment, gift, or fee from seafarers in connection with recruitment or placement.

Our manning agents (as applicable) are directly appointed and are rigorously vetted. They are required to adhere to our stringent code of conduct, which mandates full compliance with all relevant national and international laws and regulations governing recruitment practices.

We are committed to the highest ethical standards and achieving success with integrity. Seafarers engaged in recruitment through our appointed manning agents are encouraged to report any concerns or potential compliance violations at any stage of the process, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Makara Maritime does not charge any recruitment fees to seafarers.

If anyone inquires about fees or charges to be paid, kindly inform us immediately by sending an email to careers@makaramaritime.com

Our dedication extends beyond recruitment;
we are firm in cultivating and retaining top-tier crew exclusively for our clients benefit.
